Studio 333 is a summer studio led each semester at CCA by 3 visiting architects.
The year I took the class, the visiting professors included: Ferda Kolatan, Jenny Sabin with Andrew Kudless from CCA. The three weeks focused on the same basic site, the inlet to the bay around Giants Stadium in the SOMA district of San Francisco. The week’s projects in order ranged from: ferry terminal, urban pathway to a bridge. A guding principle other than site that bound each project together was an emphasis on different types of scripting. The first week used Maya Hair Dynamics, the second week used Rhinoscript and the thrid week used Grasshopper. The sampling of these different types of scripting was beneficial in the respect that due to the short time period allloted to each project, inherent strengths and weaknesses in utilizing each type of script became apparant. | Studio 333 :: California College of the Arts :: Faculty: Andrew Kudless, Ferda Kolatan, Jenny Sabin |
