The caterpilAIR project was a 2 week charette at the beginning of the Soft Systems studio.
This project invited us to develop a parasite to inhabit the ecosystem surrounding One Bush Street. This ecosystem was evaluated via site visits and data collected from various sources including Google Earth and wind data people. The project introduced the ideas of temporality and performance in relation to an intervention. We studied parasitical insects that perform functions having specific inputs and outputs to relate to our project goals. My project, the CaterpillAIR, strives to breathe new life into the existing, hermetically sealed building by creating an intervention that is self-sustaining while performing the task of filtering air through collected water. The intervention moves along tracks in order to breathe air into specific sections of the building. | caterpilAIR :: SoftSystemsStudio ::CCA :: Faculty: Nataly Gattegno & Jason K. Johnson |
